The Grief Recovery Method®

The Grief Recovery Method offers a gentle, structured path toward healing after loss. As a certified facilitator, I provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your emotions, release unresolved pain, and rebuild a sense of peace. This evidence-based approach helps you move beyond the weight of grief—not by forgetting your loss, but by finding healthy ways to honor it and move forward with clarity and hope.

Grief Is Everywhere — and Often Misunderstood

When most people hear the word grief, they think of death.
But grief is far broader — it’s the natural emotional response to any loss or unwanted change.

Every time something ends, shifts, or doesn’t turn out the way we hoped, we experience grief.

We may not name it that, but our hearts feel it just the same.

Grief shows up in many forms:

  • The end of a relationship or friendship

  • Divorce or separation

  • Losing a job or changing careers

  • Health challenges or aging

  • Moving or leaving a familiar place

  • Family estrangement or loss of trust

  • The loss of identity, security, or purpose

  • Unmet dreams, disappointments, or broken expectations

  • Collective or cultural grief — the pain of witnessing loss in the world around us

Each of these experiences carries emotional weight. When we don’t process them, they build up — showing up as stress, numbness, anxiety, or difficulty connecting with others. Almost every emotional struggle we face has roots in unresolved grief.

Why This Matters

When we don’t name grief for what it is, we can’t truly heal from it.

We may instead see its effects in ways that don’t look like grief:

  • Anxiety, depression, or chronic stress

  • Numbness or disconnection from others

  • Anger, guilt, or emotional outbursts

  • Difficulty trusting or forming new relationships

  • Feeling “stuck” in the past or unable to move forward

Almost every emotional struggle — from burnout to heartbreak — has roots in unresolved grief. Recognizing that truth opens the door to real healing.

How the Grief Recovery Method Helps

The Grief Recovery Method® offers a structured, evidence-based path toward emotional healing. It guides you step by step through understanding your grief, identifying what’s incomplete, and taking specific actions to release the pain.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, GRM focuses on emotional completion, not just insight. You’ll learn how to let go of unresolved feelings while keeping the love, lessons, and meaning from what was lost.

It’s not about moving on — it’s about moving forward with a whole heart.

WHO CAN BENEFIT?

Grief touches everyone — but healing starts when we recognize it.
This method is designed for anyone who feels stuck, burdened, or incomplete after a loss, including:

  • Those mourning a death — of a loved one, friend, or pet

  • Individuals healing after divorce or breakup

  • Adults processing childhood losses — neglect, estrangement, or unmet needs

  • People navigating life transitions — retirement, relocation, or identity changes

  • Caregivers and healthcare professionals carrying emotional fatigue

  • Parents facing changes in family dynamics or empty-nest transitions

  • Those coping with health or mobility loss

  • Anyone feeling “off,” stuck, or emotionally drained without knowing why

I’m Tara, a Medical Social Worker and Grief Recovery Method Specialist® dedicated to supporting individuals through the many forms of loss that shape their lives. I have spent more than a decade working in hospice, where I have walked alongside countless individuals and families as they navigate end-of-life transitions and the profound bereavement that follows. My work has allowed me to support people through acute grief, anticipatory grief, and the long-term healing that comes after significant loss.

Beyond hospice, my practice includes helping people cope with losses related to health and functioning—such as the loss of mobility, independence, energy, or the ability to participate in daily activities and roles that once felt central to their identity. I also support people through the quieter but deeply impactful forms of grief that arise from changes in relationships, identity, roles, or life expectations—such as the end of a relationship, estrangement within families, career or role transitions, or the loss of dreams and plans that once felt certain.

My understanding of grief is both professional and personal. I’ve experienced the loss of cherished pets,  grandparents, and nephew, and I’ve faced my own loss of health while living with an autoimmune condition. These experiences inform the empathy, steadiness, and genuine connection I bring to my work.

I believe that every form of grief deserves to be acknowledged and held with care—whether it stems from illness, major life transitions, or the invisible losses we often carry alone. In my practice, I strive to create a compassionate, supportive space where each person feels seen, understood, and empowered to move forward in a way that honors their individual story.
